چکیده
Two alloys based on nickel and designed to be reinforced by MC carbides thanks the presence of Hf Ta were produced casting. They subjected 50 h-long isothermal exposure at 1250 °C in synthetic air with thermogravimetric monitoring oxidation progress. In as-cast state, they contain both significant quantities (Hf,Ta)C carbides. Their verified melting start temperatures, close 1300 °C, allowed performing planned test. The two demonstrated a chromia-forming behavior limited mass gain rates. However, also showed rather low resistance oxide spallation cooling, which is proportion Ta/Hf ratio. After h morphology had significantly evolved, from their initial script-like shape fragmented coalesced state. results are promising, but use these needs further improvements mechanical level.

Simulation of oxidation-nitridation-induced microstructural degradation in a cracked Ni- based superalloy at high temperature
In turbine engines, high temperature components made of superalloys may crack in a creep process during service. With the inward flux of the gases, e.g. oxygen and nitrogen, along those cracks, the microstructure of the superalloy substrate nearby the cracks may degrade by internal oxidation and nitridation. The aim of this study is to investigate and simulate the oxidation-nitridation-induced ...
متن کاملThin Al, Au, Cu, Ni, Fe, and Ta films as oxidation barriers for Co in air
We have investigated the effectiveness of Al, Au, Cu, Ni, Fe, and Ta films with thicknesses up to 4 nm for protecting a Co surface from oxidation in air at room temperature. The distinct change in the Co 2p3/2 core-level line shape observed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy upon the oxidation of Co makes it a simple matter to identify the fractions of the Co that are in the metallic state and...
متن کاملOxidation of ZrB2-SiC Composites at 1600 °C: Effect of Carbides, Borides, Silicides, and Chopped Carbon Fiber
The aim of this work is to optimize the oxidation resistance of ZrB2-SiC-based composites with different additives. Effect of nine factors including SiC, Cf, MoSi2, HfB2 and ZrC contents, milling time of Cf (M.t) and SPS parameters such as temperature, time and pressure on oxidation resistance in four levels was investigated. Taguchi design was applied to explore effective parameters for ...
متن کاملOxidation – Nitridation of Ni-Cr-Al Alloys
A series of alloys containing 24-36 wt pct Cr and 13.5 – 25.0 wt pct Al was reacted with air at 1100 °C for 260 h. The products of isothermal reaction were scales of α-Al 2 O 3 plus small amounts of Cr 2 O 3 . These grew according to parabolic kinetics, interrupted by episodic weight losses caused by partial spallation. No nitridation occurred during the isothermal exposures. Reaction during th...

Examination of deformation microstructures induced by micro-indentation technique by means of transmission electron microscopy following an MV range metallic ion irradiation was performed in order to study the influence of irradiation-produced microstructural defects on plastic deformation behavior of materials. In this work, specimens of an Fe-Cr-Ni austenitic model ternary alloy before and af...
